Andrew Maier, PhD, is a leading expert in understanding the safety factors associated with products used in commercial, industrial, and residential applications. He earned his Master’s Degree in industrial health from University of Michigan and his PhD in Toxicology from University of Cincinnati. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, and a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and works as a principal science advisor at Cardno ChemRisk, a scientific consulting firm. His work focuses on reviewing products to assure they are safe when used as directed.
Dr. Maier has more than 25 years of professional work experience in the areas of environmental health, occupational hygiene, and toxicology. He previously served as an Associate Professor of Environmental and Industrial Hygiene at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, leading a research program in occupational exposure assessment, toxicology and risk assessment. Prior to joining the University of Cincinnati, he served as the director for the non-profit organization Toxicology Excellence for Risk Assessment (TERA).
